Most people put off a hair loss consultation for months, usually because they assume it will be a sales appointment. They picture someone pointing at a rack of wigs and asking which one they can afford. If that is what you are expecting, this post will save you the dread.
It is not what happens here.
Before anything else, we assess the scalp itself. Our Head First program is built on the science of trichology and uses methods with over 40 years behind them. We perform a complete scalp assessment using a sophisticated microcamera, which lets us see what is happening at the follicle level rather than guessing from the outside.
Then we build a treatment plan for you. Not a package, not a standard course. A plan based on what the assessment actually shows.
This is the part that surprises people, and it is worth being blunt about: a topper or a wig covers thinning. It does not address why the thinning is happening.
The goal of a scalp health program is to purify and detoxify the scalp and hair follicles, clearing out the impurities and sebum that block healthy development. The underlying idea is straightforward and well supported. Research consistently finds that a healthy scalp leads to healthy hair. When the scalp is properly cleansed, follicles unclog, nutrients and blood flow are restored, and as long as the follicle is still alive, new growth becomes possible.
Our goal is to reverse or stop the progression. Not always possible, and we will not pretend otherwise, but that is the aim.
It happens in a private treatment room, not on the main floor. Our hair loss specialist has been styling for more than 20 years and will spend time with you before recommending anything. Karyle Elder has over 18 years of experience and specializes in hair loss solutions, hair restoration, wig fitting, and cranial prosthesis.
We also look at signs that the loss may need a doctor rather than a stylist. Scalp inflammation, sudden or patchy loss, and shedding that started without an obvious trigger are not styling problems. If that is what we see, we will tell you, and we will tell you which kind of doctor to see. You should never leave a salon feeling like you were upsold something.
If coverage is part of the answer, we will talk through the options with you rather than leading with one. Clip-in toppers for when you want volume on your own terms. Bonded toppers for a secure all-day hold, including for alopecia, traction alopecia, trichotillomania, and hypothyroidism. Custom wigs for complete coverage, fitted by measurement and cut to suit you. Extensions when you want length as much as density.
We keep several styles and colors on display, and we can custom order during your consultation.
Anyone noticing a widening part, a thinner ponytail, or a crown that looks thin from above. Anyone who has been covering it with hats and would rather not. Anyone who has already bought a topper that looked fine in the mirror and disappointing in daylight. And anyone whose hair loss followed illness, surgery, or a difficult year, who wants to know whether it will come back.
