Experiencing hair loss can be hard for anyone and for those undergoing treatment, it can add stress. To ease that, Just Stylin Salon in Evansville hosted Free Wig Wednesday, giving away a variety of wigs to those undergoing cancer treatment or who experienced medical-related hair loss. "We started doing this to bring the community in for those who couldn't afford a wig or for various reasons that they would need a wig," said Karyle Elder, the Owner of Just Stylin Salon. Elder helped her mother through her hair loss journey while battling cancer. "Just kind of going through it ourselves kind of helps to understand what other people are going through," said Elder. Now she offers that same help to others by partnering with Cancer Pathways Midwest, who donated all 200 wigs. At the event, the wigs were fitted and styled for those who grabbed one and they offered tips on how to properly maintain them. "We'll tell you how to wear them, how to take care of them, how to wash them." said Karen Cheaney, a stylist at Just Stylin Salon. At the end of the event, they gave away 30 wigs. It's a way to give back to those who need it most, while also making them feel beautiful during the process.
